The video above is a short reading of part of Kathryn Otoshi's book One. If you've read it, or her other incredible books, Zero and Two, skip to the video below, which includes a brief interview of Kathryn talking about the marketing of One and how she had to stretch out of her usual style to make it work.
And finally, a 90 second video of Georgia Hughes encouraging authors to surprise their editors rather than strive for the latest, greatest trend. She also suggests taking an age-old issue and making it new.
Have a great weekend.
I like the advice to surprise your editor. That's always good.
ReplyDeleteYes, but hard, I think. I'm sure they'e seen just about everything.
DeleteThanks for sharing these! She wants to be surprised and startled--I like that :)
ReplyDeleteMe too. :)
DeleteI like how editors want to be surprised rather than expect authors to follow the latest trend. Thanks for the videos!
ReplyDeleteGlad you found them useful. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteOne looks like such a great book! We're working on colors right now, so it'd be good for that too. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteONE is brilliant. You'll love it.
DeleteI love that bit of advice--going the unexpected route. Those are my favorite books anyway, the ones that catch you by surprise and take you places you hadn't anticipated going.
