If you are drawn to write what's uncomfortable, it may help to recognize that you are allowed to write for yourself, and that any decisions about seeking publication are separate from that first, fundamental decision (and freedom). —WonderbookI confess, I knew nothing about the author until now because of course I had to Google him after reading the quote.
I enjoy authors who push the envelope and rewrite the "rules." Roald Dahl is tops on my list for that. The brief interview with him above shows his unconventional thought paths and experiences that helped him create his stories.
Have a great week.
Johnell, that interview is priceless. Dahl always had a wicked sense of irony and it is clearly not reserved for his fiction stories-- It's him.
ReplyDeleteYes. I think so too.
DeleteSome great quotes. I liked Nabokov's Wolf, Wolf. Made me laugh. And I love Roald Dahl. You would love his autobiography: Boy.
ReplyDeleteYes. Thanks for the tip about the autobiography. I'll have to look into it.
DeleteGreat quote. It's good to write without thinking of publication. Very freeing!
ReplyDeleteIt is freeing isn't it. Hopefully something remarkable come of it too. :)
DeleteI'd never seen Roald Dahl in video before! He's so amazing, and I can't wait to see The BFG movie. Looks super good!
